ChatGPT is incredible — here’s how I use it every single day

I was pretty late to the A.I. news. The earliest memories I have of understanding exactly what artificial intelligence is, is from my childhood playing Madden NFL or EA Sports’ NHL video game. There were sliders I could use to control how “smart” or how “dumb” the A.I. would behave as I tried to score touchdowns or goals.

Over time, A.I. started to do more. A.I. in video games goes as far back into the 1990s, maybe earlier. But artificial intelligence has been around for decades. The concept of A.I. has been around since the 1950s, but its origins date back to the early 20th century.

Part of my research for this piece was done using ChatGPT.

Learning about artificial intelligence: “The concept of artificial intelligence (AI) has been around since the 1950s, but its origins date back even further. In the early 20th century, science fiction writers such as Isaac Asimov and Arthur C. Clarke began exploring the idea of intelligent machines in their works of fiction…”

Artificial intelligence is used in email spam filters, self-driving cars, and is involved in automated assistants such as Siri, Hey Google, and Samsung’s Bixby (whoever actually uses it). Even predictive text in your smartphone uses A.I.

To see exactly how advanced ChatGPT is, I gave it pretty simple instructions: to write an article and essentially do my job for me.
