Climate Change Is Happening Right Now
Why baseball game cancellations are a sign that it’s bad right now and it’s only getting worse.
I’m a baseball and tech writer. This isn’t what I usually discuss, so if you’re a follower here, just hear me out.
Normally my writing consists of talking about the latest gadgets or how the New York Mets are doing. Today I had an epiphany — Major League Baseball games are being rained out and postponed at an alarming rate. The New York Mets have had thirteen or fourteen games postponed in this year alone.
Even in my alternative schedule proposal for the MLB — 120 or 130-ish games with a two-week gap between the regular season and post-season to make up for rain outs and postponed games (I really hate double-headers) — it’s not a sound method since some teams have more than thirteen games postponed on a regular basis.
To be exact, the New York Mets have had thirteen games postponed, ten of those due to rain (the other three due to COVID-19 issues on the other team). The Atlanta Braves have had six games postponed, four due to rain. Boston has had six games postponed; Cleveland eight games; Detroit seven; the Yankees four.
