The climate crisis is an urgent one, but there’s still a lot we can do

Climate change is everywhere. We — as human beings — are affecting the world constantly. It’s the cars we drive, the meat we eat, the industries we’ve built. Every action we take has implications on the climate.

We’re already seeing the effects of climate change. Just this year alone, the following has happened: the middle of the country froze and the northwest had a once-in-a-lifetime weather block. In February, Dallas froze to 14º Fahrenheit, colder than it was in New York City. Portland, Seattle, Boise, and several other northwestern U.S. areas recorded temperatures as high as 115º or more.

Climate change is here and will almost certainly make life worse.

How much worse and for whom?

We’re not exactly sure how bad it will get, but we do know who it will affect the most. Climate change is a justice issue. Just like most justice issues, climate change will affect poor people the most.

Climate change will have the most effect on people who are the least responsible for it. People who live in affluent areas will be mostly okay, though it will still probably affect them to an extent, or…
