Here’s what I learned after watching every episode from David Letterman’s Netflix show
Why studying interviewers is so important.
I have aspired to be a journalist for as long as I can remember. It started with sports in elementary and middle school. While in high school, I ran a music publication from my bedroom. Through that, we launched a YouTube show where I would go around and interview various musicians. Some were larger than others but that is the industry I fell into.
I’m 10 years removed from graduating high school, now pursuing a career in sports journalism once again. Recently, I came across David Letterman’s Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. I discovered his interview with comedian John Mulaney.
In the interview with Mulaney, Letterman revisits a number of issues from his personal life, such as addiction, becoming a father, and more. I really enjoyed it.
My exposure to Letterman is somewhat small. When The Late Show with David Letterman left the air, I was 19 and hadn’t watched much late-night television aside from The Daily Show. Now I’m a much bigger fan of Stephen Colbert and Taylor Tomlinson’s shows. That said, I do know who Letterman is.
Letterman has a show on Netflix now and it’s been running since 2018. It’s quite good…
