I love Apple TV, but there is one problem
I didn’t see this until now.
I have long been an Apple TV defender. But I’m not talking about Apple TV+, home to The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, and other incredible original television series and dramas. I’m talking about Apple’s small box, akin to a Roku or Google Cast.
Prior to last year, my only issue with Apple TV was its remote. It was difficult to use and was due for an upgrade. Eventually, that upgrade came.
Old meets new
The old remote featured a motion-sensitive touchpad at the top, making scrubbing through movies or TV shows difficult. Even selecting something to watch wasn’t easy. A “menu” button was also the back button, which made little sense.
To power off, users must hold the TV icon next to the menu button. Voice controls were easy to use and I rarely used the play/pause button. It was a long-awaited change.
A new remote finally came: a dedicated power button at the top-right, an iPod-like scroll dial with actual buttons. Users can still use the middle circle to swipe if they’d like. A dedicated back button next to the TV button, volume…
