Apple TV+

Long gone are the days that Netflix is king when it comes to streaming originals. Over the last few years, its rivals have beefed up their catalog of original shows. Whether it’s Netflix’s Stranger Things, Peacock’s revival of Saved by the Bell, or Amazon Prime Video’s reimagination of the popular video game Fallout, there is no shortage of content to watch.

Apple TV+: ‘Sunny’

When Apple first announced its streaming service, it came with a slew of original shows. At the start, I loved The Morning Show. While I can confidently say that TMS is still one of my favorite shows, some others have failed to catch my attention.

Ted Lasso was an absolute hit and is one of my favorite shows I have ever watched. I’m glad to say I’ve found a new gem on Apple TV+.

Making its premiere a few months ago, Sunny is set in Kyoto, Japan in the not-so-distant future. The show opens with Suzie Sakamoto (Rashida Jones) having recently lost her husband, Masa (Hidetoshi Nishijima), and their young son in a plane crash. She spends her days distraught, of course, when a gift from her husband’s employer ImaTech sends a gift: a homebot named Sunny, designed by her husband.
