macOS 12 Monterey has finally arrived. Here’s why you should update
After months of waiting, Apple’s new macOS is finally here.
I’ve been using the new macOS 12 beta on my M1 Mac Mini for several months now and it’s a great update. It’s not as massive as macOS 11 was, but it’s still substantial.
The new macOS 12 Monterey was announced back in June, but wasn’t actually released until this past week — unlike the other new updates that launched along with the new iPhone and Apple Watch. macOS 12 came with the new M1 MacBook Pro lineup, which looks great, by the way.
Here are all of the top new features that have come to most Macs.
Safari
Like iOS, Safari on macOS is brand new. Unlike many iPhone users, I was very welcoming to the new Safari update. For one, on iOS, it’s great UX. The accessibility of placing the search bar on the bottom of the device is something every other browser should do.
On Mac, the tab bar has been redesigned to be more compact. The tab changes color to whatever web page you’re currently viewing.
