MLB The Show 21 Needs These Features
It’s a great game but could be so much better.
In the two months that I have been playing MLB The Show 21, I’ve realized that it is the best edition that the franchise has to offer. Stadium Creator, the improvements to Diamond Dynasty, a refresh of the depth chart system in Franchise Mode, and the Road to the Show refresh were all stellar improvements to an already great game.
It’s still easy to see where the San Diego Studio staff missed, though. Most of my gripes within the game come from actually playing the game, though. It comes from physically hitting or batting or fielding. Other annual sports releases are lightyears ahead when it comes to in-game presentation, so let’s start there.
Better Presentation
I love Matty V and his (sometimes brutal) play-by-play. Throughout the broadcast, there’s just not enough sizzle that’s both realistic and entertaining.
For starters, injuries.
They aren’t realistic at all.
During my New York Mets franchise, David Peterson tore his rotator cuff in his very first start. Cool, he’s out for the season. But the game produced no animation, no cut scene. All of a sudden, he was pitching and then a blank screen appeared with a prompt…
