The Actual Pros and Cons of Buying an M1 Mac Right Now
After several months of use, it’s the best I’ve ever owned
I love my M1 Mac. I really, really do. The truth is, it’s an incredibly powerful device that does everything well — but I can’t suggest it for pros who do most of their creative work on it yet.
Like I said, it’s a really powerful machine. I bought an M1 Mac Mini and the only negative comment I had upon using it was that its speakers are garbage. I hardly use them. They suck.
Most of the time, I’m going between my iPad Pro and Mac Mini for school, writing, and editing my podcast or videos in Final Cut Pro. It is by far the most powerful computer I’ve ever owned and lightyears ahead of my Intel 2017 MacBook Pro.
Still, there are some drawbacks.
No Boot Camp
Here’s the worst one.
For years, Boot Camp was Apple’s way of bridging Windows 10 to Mac users who didn’t want two machines. Sadly, Microsoft has not yet opened the door to an ARM-based version of Windows 10 quite yet, though it might make its way later on considering the release of Windows 11.
