Want to record a podcast? Here’s what you need to start.
Everything you’ll need from the microphone to the space.
Everyone wants a podcast. Thankfully, I’ve been recording for years. In this article, I will outline the tech you’ll need, as well as give some input on the type of podcast you might want to create.
Personally, I’ve launched both music and sports podcasts. I’ve been able to test out what works, and what doesn’t.
Microphone
Every good podcast needs a good microphone. You can purchase one for a relatively low price. However, I’ve been using the Shure MV7 for the last year. It’s a good mid-range microphone that works as both USB and XLR which is very convenient.
I can’t tell you how often I’m turned off by a podcast because of the microphones that the hosts use. Whichever microphone you’re using, make sure you get one that sounds good.
Buy the Shure MV7 on their website.
Studio
When most think of a “studio,” they’re thinking of a physical place. That’s not always necessary. Sure, you should hopefully be recording in a space that offers tons of echo cancellation and is quiet. You’ll also need somewhere to record.
